What your visitors see in a tour

Understand how a tour looks and behaves for the people using your website.

Who can do this: All Flook users

Moving through a tour

Each step shows in a box. At the bottom of the box, visitors see:

  • how far through the tour they are, for example 2/5, as dots or as a line, depending on your theme
  • Previous, from the second step onwards
  • Next, which changes to Done on the last step.

If your theme uses arrows, the buttons are shown as arrows instead of words.

Moving between pages

If the tour covers several pages, clicking Next on the last step of a page takes the visitor to the next page. The tour then carries on there. Previous takes them back.

Ending a tour

A tour ends when the visitor:

  • clicks Done on the last step, or
  • clicks the close button, if the tour is Dismissible.

Clicking outside the step, on the dimmed part of the page, doesn't close a tour.

When something isn't on the page

Before each step, Flook waits a couple of seconds for the element it points to.

  • If the element still isn't there, the step appears in the middle of the screen instead.
  • If a step has been deleted, it's skipped.

Tips

  • The words Previous, Next and Done can't be changed at the moment.
  • Visitors can't use the keyboard (such as the arrow keys or Esc) to move through or close a tour.
  • While a tour is running, other highlights and popups on the page close.
