Control how often an item appears

Choose how often each visitor sees a highlight, popup or tour that appears by itself.

Who can do this: All Flook users

Steps

  1. In the Flook Builder, open the highlight or popup. For a tour, open Tour Launch Settings instead.
  2. Under Show, set When (or Show for tours):
    • Once: each visitor sees it once.
    • Every Session: each visitor sees it once per visit.
    • After: each visitor sees it once, after a set amount of time has passed since their first visit. Choose a number and hours, days, weeks or months.
  3. Set the Delay: how long to wait after the page loads before it appears.
  4. Click Save (or Save Settings for tours).

How Flook remembers

Flook remembers what each visitor has seen in their own browser. This means:

  • A visitor who uses a different browser or device, a private window, or who clears their browser data, may see the item again.
  • Your website's subdomains keep separate records. For example, www.yourdomain.com and app.yourdomain.com are counted separately.
  • Once counts as soon as the item appears, even if the visitor doesn't interact with it.
  • Every Session shows again when a visitor opens your website in a new browser tab or window.
  • After doesn't show anything on the first visit. That visit starts the clock.

Tips

  • Some older items show Number of visits. This shows the item up to that many times for each visitor.
  • These settings don't apply to tooltips that open on hover or click. Those show every time.
  • To see an item again while you're testing, see See an item again while testing.
