Choose when a tour starts

Decide whether a tour starts by itself when visitors arrive on a page, and how often they'll see it.

Who can do this: All Flook users

Steps

  1. Open your tour in the Flook Builder.
  2. In the bottom bar, click Tour Launch Settings (the rocket icon).
  3. Turn Launch on page load on or off:
    • On: the tour starts by itself on any page that matches your first page group. The badge shows Tour would start on the current page or Tour would not start on the current page.
    • Off: "This tour will not launch on page load. It can be launched from other widgets." See Start a tour from a button.
  4. If it's on, set the Page Load Options:
    • Delay: how long to wait, in milliseconds, before the tour appears. For example, 2000 is 2 seconds.
    • Show: Once, Every Session or After. See Control how often an item appears.
  5. Click Save Settings.
  6. Click Save Tour.

See which items start this tour

At the bottom of Launch Settings, Launched from widgets lists every tooltip, highlight and popup with a button that starts this tour. Click one to open it. If there aren't any, you'll see "No widgets are configured to launch this tour."

Tips

  • The tour starts on pages that match the Page URL of the first page group. To change which pages that is, see Page group settings.
  • When a tour starts, any highlights or popups already on the page close, so they don't get in the way.
  • If Hide on mobile is on in Tour general settings, the tour won't start by itself on small screens.

Troubleshooting

"Tour has invalid launch settings"

You'll see this red badge on the tour in the Tours list. You can't publish the tour until you fix it. Open the tour, click Tour Launch Settings, then choose your settings again and click Save Settings.

If your tour isn't starting, see My tour doesn't start, or starts again from the beginning.
