What is Flook?¶
Learn what Flook does, the three parts that make it work, and the kinds of content you can create.
Who can do this: All Flook users
What Flook does¶
Flook lets you add guidance to your own website or web app without writing code. You can walk people through a feature, point out something new, or answer a question right where it comes up.
The three parts of Flook¶
| Part | What it's for |
|---|---|
| The dashboard (app.flook.co) | Where you see and manage everything you've made. You can also change settings, invite your team and manage billing here. |
| The Flook Builder | Our Chrome extension. You use it to create and edit content directly on your own website, so you can see exactly where it will appear. |
| The Flook snippet | A short piece of code you add to your website once. It's what shows your published content to your visitors. |
What you can create¶
- Tours: a series of steps that guide someone through a task, one step at a time. A tour can cover more than one page.
- Tooltips: a small message attached to something on the page. It appears when someone hovers over or clicks the element, or a small icon (a "launcher") next to it.
- Highlights: draw attention to one thing on the page, usually by dimming everything else around it.
- Popups: a message in the middle or at the edge of the screen. It isn't attached to anything on the page.
Not sure which one to use? See Which type should I use?.
How it fits together¶
- You add the Flook snippet to your website. You only need to do this once.
- You use the Flook Builder to create content on your website.
- When you publish it, the snippet shows it to your visitors.
- You can manage and publish content from either the dashboard or the Flook Builder.
