Choose what makes a tooltip appear

Set whether a tooltip opens when visitors hover over something or click it, and how quickly it opens and closes.

Who can do this: All Flook users

Steps

  1. In the Flook Builder, open the tooltip.
  2. On the Essentials tab, find Show.
  3. Under On, choose:
    • Hover: opens when the mouse moves over the element (or the launcher icon).
    • Click: opens when the visitor clicks it.
    • Right Click: opens when the visitor right-clicks it.
  4. Optional: choose a Cursor (Default, Help or Pointer) to show when the mouse is over the element.
  5. Optional: set the Delay (how long before it opens) and Hide Delay (how long before it closes), in milliseconds. The default for both is 250 (a quarter of a second).
  6. Click Save.

What happens next

The tooltip closes when the mouse moves away from the element. If the mouse moves onto the tooltip itself, it stays open until the mouse leaves the tooltip. This is also true for tooltips that open on Click.

Tips

  • Clicking a link or button still does what it normally does, even if it has a Click tooltip.
  • If the tooltip has a launcher, these settings apply to the launcher icon instead of the element.
  • Tooltips that open on hover or click show every time. The Once, Every Session and After options only apply to highlights, popups and tours.
